When did you qualify?
Sian qualified as a legal executive (FCILEX) in 2007.
What is your specialist area of law? What types of cases do you deal with?
Commercial and residential matters including:
- Sales and purchases
- Leases and licences
- Regeneration and redevelopment work
- Advising on all property related matters
- Advice to officers and elected members of the partner councils on constitutional matters and issues relating to probity and conflicts of interest
Share a couple of professional triumphs/achievements. Have you had any cases reported locally/nationally? Won any awards for your legal work?
- Sian has been involved in helping to ensure that developments can take place, including releasing covenants and advising on enforceability of covenants
- Sian has advised on title issues relating to a high value regeneration project
- Sian has dealt with commercial leases on behalf of all partner councils including some outlying properties where there have been issues such as converting one unit into two, issues with access, and one where a rectification of the lease of the adjoining unit was needed as the floor plans had been mapped incorrectly by the previous landlord and the freehold title boundaries did not match up
- Sian has overseen the implementation of the work for the Local Authority Housing Fund for purchasing properties for housing refugees, including advising client authorities, regular update meetings and dealing with some of the purchases. With our assistance, both partner councils that signed up to the scheme were able to meet their spending deadlines
