When did you qualify?

Donna qualified as a solicitor in 2003.

Working in the commercial team means we cover a wide variety of local authority law including the procurement of goods, services, works and ICT contracts, receipt and allocation of grants from central government, joint working agreements with other public bodies, involvement in multi-million-pound projects, the outsourcing and insourcing of council services and company law matters relating to council-owned companies. A large part of our focus in 2024 will be the implementation of the Procurement Act 2023

Share a couple of professional triumphs/achievements. Have you had any cases reported locally/nationally? Won any awards for your legal work?

Donna has been the lead in-house lawyer on many interesting and challenging projects for our partner councils, some examples include:

  • The construction of a new leisure centre in Tewkesbury and the appointment of a new leisure provider following a competitive tender process
  • The construction of the new crematorium in Cheltenham
  • Working on insourcing leisure services back to the council from an external operator in Stroud
  • Improvements to Gloucester Rail Station, Kings Square and Kings Walk Shopping Centre
